Speaking earnestly and solemnly to thousands of children at the White House’s annual Easter egg roll, President Trump assured them: “We will be stronger and bigger as a nation than ever before.” Only then were they allowed to propel battalions of coloured wooden eggs across the south lawn.
“We’re right on track, you see what’s happening, we are right on track,” the unsmiling president — flanked by his wife, Melania, and 11-year-old son, Barron, on one side and a six-foot bespectacled Easter bunny on the other — told the crowd of children and their carers.
